The law is one area where slippery slope is not a fallacy. The legal framework in this country is built on precedent, meaning that the court relies on prior decisions to guide future decisions. The court also has discretion as to how broadly or how narrowly the right will be interpreted. On its face, this law is about abortion. Beneath the surface, there are arguments to be made for stripping away privacy rights, reducing individual autonomy, and providing standing for private individuals to act as the gestapo. That kind of rhetoric can be applied to a multitude of other cases beyond abortion.
