I think one of the difficulties of the current climate is that more and more people deal in absolutes. You have to join the extreme cults or be admonished by them. We are not permitted to think or reason. We have to agree and support or else we are the enemy. This goes for both camps.

How about this...We can 100% support the correct teaching of history of slavery and disenfranchisement. We can discuss how to mitigate those disparate impacts, look at policies that have worked and didn't work. We can come together against police aggression and over-militarization (which we have). We can actually find solutions and we can do it without being compelled to prostrate ourselves before the public tribunal.
